The Itch To Sew

I’m still alive, never fear. Alive, but barely sewing. We’ve had two sets of visitors in the past week, I spent last weekend on a writing retreat in Windsor and this weekend I have a spa day and a writing deadline. So, not much sewing going on!

I did manage to buy a new pair of trousers from my favourite charity shop. I’m a short arse, so most trousers need taking up. Luckily, my mum was on hand to pin them for me. I am ashamed to say that she also ended up sewing them for me, as I became a bit ratty and frustrated. Jeez. I can’t even hem a pair of trousers right now.

I also went back to Saeed Fabrics to buy more lining and extra pink wool. They tried to charge me £5 a metre for the wool, but I gently reminded them it was only £3 a metre last time. I then did my food shopping, departed and… Left the bag of fabric in the trolley. I wish I was kidding. When I realised my mistake I swore with vengeful passion, alarming passers-by, stormed past this notions stall, back down to the supermarket. There sat my bag of fabric, untouched in the trolley. What is wrong with me? Am I subconsciously going to any lengths possible to avoid finishing this jacket? What next? Smashing up my sewing machine in my sleep?

I just need to get these next few days out of the way and then I can settle back down to the sewing. In the meantime, I leave you with a photo of a tulip in my garden. Isn’t it gorgeous? Look at those colours!

Blog readers: Why are you photographing tulips when you could be sewing, Karen?

Karen: Don’t you start!

How long does it take you to get the itch to sew again?

I love the shade of red of this tulip, it’s gorgeous!
I myself suffer from a sort of sewing hate… I can stay more than two weeks without touching my sewing machine… then, one day without alarm I haer a little tickle in my head and just can’t stop!!!

    Hi,
I just discovered your blog and it’s a really cool place to stop by.
For me, i’m always in the sewing/knitting/crafting mood but my problem is that i use up all of my fabric and supplies quickly and then have to wait a bit before going for more. This is my weekend to go for more and I’m going to go crazy buying more fabric lol.
