Beheaded Saint Sporting Shawl
I feel proud of this shawl for two reasons:
- It’s beautiful.
- I feel like a saint for giving it away.
Tomorrow it gets wrapped up with pink tissue paper, carefully gift-tagged and put in a jiffy bag, going to someone who deserves it so much more than me. (Bites knuckles and pretends to be brave.) No, really. It will suit them better. It’s fine; I can make another one.
Okay, look. I can’t hang around here. I need to go and hide my head in a pillow and scream. Did Joan of Arc ever make gorgeous items to give away to others? I bet she did. She was probably still knitting as the fire burnt. But I bet she didn’t blog about them first.
You can find the pattern here. Please note – I totally ignored the recommended weight of wool, so don’t take my shawl as an accurate example.
Oh wow, that is pretty! What a great gift.
I dutifully worked on a lovely scarf, all the while receiving admiring sighs from a friend, who couldn’t stop touching it. I absolutely loved it. It was chocolate brown with minty green mohair stripes… I gave it to her.
I still think about that scarf.
