Sensational Snood Sweetener Winner is…

Scruffy Badger! Two colleagues have declared they want to knit this snood, so I think it’s a winner. I’ll be in touch for a postal address.

Thank you all for your memories of childhood knitted items. I think I could have drafted a Roald Dhal-esque short story from our collective memories. The grandpa with a mischevious twinkle in his eye. The stork with its own knitted nest. The child with a centipede crawling under her arm. (Tickle, tickle!) You couldn’t make it up and we didn’t have to – it was all there in our childhoods, thanks to relatives and friends who made children feel utterly, utterly loved. All with a couple of sticks and some wool.

I’m so glad you shared these stories with me and thank you for entering.

In other news, I’ve added my first blog entry for the year to Tilly’s Crafty Christmas Club. Check it out here.

I am not sure what a snood is, but if it is the hat and scarf you are wearing, it is sensational indeed! I wish I know how to knit. 🙂

  2. Victoria says:

Wow, you’re churning out these knitted items so fast. It’s taken me three weeks to knit a pair of handwarmers… much needed today! I like the hat in the picture above, the colour especially contrasts very nicely with your coat.

  3. Portia says:

Yay well done Winnie! Your perfect colour too!!

  4. Felicity from Down Under says:

If you’ve inspired others to knit, that’s really a win.

  5. Law says:

Congrats Scruffy Badger, it’ll be going to a good home :o)

  6. O my word!! I’m so thrilled. Thank you Karen I will treasure it, and it really is one of my winter colours. So excited!!! Thank you to miss p and law too, you are lovely xx

No, no, you’re wrong. I’m the winner. I took one look at your snood/cowl thingy and rushed to the nearest shop for knitting needles and wool and made one for myself. First thing I’ve knitted in 25 years and it was such fun and I’m definitely doing it again! Thanks for the inspiration. Confession: I may have used a different wool and needle size but I actually did make it in the same colour as yours! What are you knitting next? I need to know as you might have secret powers over my output.

    • Hi, Ruth! How FABULOUS. Thank you so much for letting me know. I’m really flattered to realise I inspired a new bout of knitting after 25 years. It’s a great little pattern, isn’t it? Perfect for dipping a toe back in the water. I’m currently knitting a scarf. After that? I’m torn between a knitted dress and a rather intricate but lovely cardigan. I’m thinking turquoise, if that’s any help!!!
