At the Pattern Pyramid launch I set out the rules in what can only be described as draconian fashion. Don’t ask, don’t email, I won’t, I shan’t, no, no, no… Wow, who rattled my cage that day?!
So I thought I’d make amends by sharing my personal highlights from the stash of patterns. I’ve had so much fun imagining people in these outfits.
I think this dress is my favourite of the lot. Sadly, I suspect I’d look like mutton dressed as lamb. But please, please will someone make this? Isn’t it just so darling with the chiffon over blouse? Be warned, though – I’ve recently worked with similair deep bodice darts on my vintage Simplicity make and they are unforgiving. You’ll really want to check your fit.
Why do I see Handmade Jane in this Simplicity 5547 blouse? I have no idea if a drawstring neckline would appeal to her, but there’s something about those sassy poses that remind me of Handmade Jane’s photos. Would you, Jane? This pattern is currently listed on Etsy as a 1964 pattern and is going for six dollars! Or free to you if you enter the giveaway.
I just adore the Seventies vibe of this pattern. (It’s a 1976 vibe, to be exact.) The pattern envelope states that a transfer is included for embroidery – you can just glimpse the detail at the bottom of this photo. I’ve checked and, guess what? The original transfer is still in the envelope! Sweet. I see Tilly and the Buttons in this dress, although I strongly suspect Tilly wouldn’t actually make this for fear of drowning her tiny frame in swathes of fabric. But, come on – someone is going to look fabulously cool in this dress. Please, please make it!
Gingham blouse? Yes, please! Jacket and skirt to go with it? Sold! Except you won’t have to pay a penny. There are several listings of this on Etsy if you don’t win the pattern but can’t live without it.
Isn’t this just adorable? I love the collar and ruffles. The bottom of the bodice is gathered, which I suspect means that fitting is relatively easy on this one. I think A Sewing Odyssey would look sweet as a treat in this dress.
So, there we have it! I get to dress my friends – in my imagination at least. You get to put your name in the hat for the giveaway, if you have a blog. It ends at midnight tonight so today is your last chance to enter. Good luck!
Do any of these patterns call to you? Or is there a Sewist you can imagine wearing one of these outfits?
